Hello NLVS volunteers!
NLVS invites new officers to apply every November. If you're interested in getting more involved with NLVS and joining the UWM chapter board starting in January 2026, you can apply at this link: https://forms.gle/8QV1GjuLBNqaan387.
Applications are due Sunday November 16th at 11:59PM.
NLVS is a 501c3 nonprofit that has mobilized volunteers in health, education, and service for 26 years. Apply to join a team of students from 8 different medical and undergraduate universities (with more being added!) who are passionate about addressing health, food, education, housing, and so many other disparities -- and an organization that will give you the tools and infrastructure to effectively do so. In the past year, NLVS board members and volunteers have:
- Continued to lead a free clinic in Roger's Park that serves a population of largely immigrant, non-English language preference, and un- or underinsured patients
- Run specialty clinics and culturally competent health education projects for patients and other community members
- Run a Midwest-wide completely free tutoring program, with increased funding and access to resources
- Co-led the national Society for Student-Run Free Clinics conference, with many board members presenting research
- Organized and led a global health relief trip to Panama, assisting hundreds of patients, and an UPCOMING global health conference
- Increased the number of service partnerships with shelters, food pantries, and other service orgs across the Midwest
Please email Makayla Lawrence (lawre243@uwm.edu) with any questions, or email Jenny Wang (jwang349@uic.edu) for questions about the NLVS Executive board or Chicago operations.
Thank you for your time and for your interest in volunteering!
Best wishes,
Makayla
